THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS|
The Board of Wilton Commons maintains control of all aspects of the construction and operation of Wilton Commons. WCI's Board of directors is made up of a group of Wilton area residents who first saw the need for more affordable housing alternatives in Wilton. WCI worked closely with the Town of Wilton to secure the site and later chose Mutual Housing Association of Southwestern Connecticut, Inc. (MHA) to be their development partner to take on the day-to-day responsibilities of the development process and property management.
Founded in 1990 Mutual Housing Association of Southwestern Connecticut, Inc. is a diversified 501(c)(3) nonprofit housing development corporation serving Fairfield County Connecticut. Founded in 1990 MHA is a diversified tax exempt 501(c)(3)non profit housing development corporation serving Fairfield County. MHA is a Charter member of Neighbor Works America. MHA develops and manages approximately 500 units of affordable housing including, homeownership, supportive, family and housing for seniors.
There are now two boards: Wilton Commons, Inc. and Wilton Commons, GP, Inc., the latter is also a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt corporation and is the general Partner in the limited partnership that owns the buidling on land leased by the Town to Wilton Commons Inc. It is Wilton Commons GP, acting as General Partner in the partnership that maintains control of all aspects of the construction and operation. Wilton Commons GP is made up of appointments from Wilton Commons, Inc. (WCI) and Mutual Housing Association of Southwestern Connecticut (MHA). The majority of Board members are Wilton Commons, Inc. appointments.
