HOW DO SENIORS QUALIFY and WHAT ARE THE COSTS?

Wilton Commons is a community for seniors. All members of the household must be 62 years of age or older. All of the units at Wilton are designed to serve seniors with incomes up to 60% of the Area Median Income for Wilton. Section 8 housing vouchers are welcome. Funding for Wilton Commons comes from many sources including private donations, grants and the Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit program. As such all households must meet the eligibility criteria established by the Internal Revenue Service. Click here to download an application for existing units.

All the existing units have been leased. Application received now will be placed on the waiting list for the next available unit.

Congegate units are becoming available for:
  • 30% Maximum Income: 1 person - $26,850 / 2 person- $30,700 - Rent: $690
  • 50% Maximum Income: 1 person - $44.800 / 2 person- $51,280 - Rent: $1,150
  • You must also qualify that you have congregate care needs.
  • In addition, there are monthly Congregate Care fees: First Person, $78; Second person, $41
Rent includes:
  • water
  • hot water
  • sewer
  • taxes
  • trash removal
  • maintenance
  • a 24-hour emergency call system
  • secure entry system
  • landscaping and snow removal.
Residents will pay their own
  • phone bills
  • cable bills
  • electric bills
    high efficiency heat and air conditioning units for each unit are electric and estimated to cost $35 / month.
Other costs include a one-time security deposit of one month rent due at lease signing, and a $50 application processing fee.
