Tuesday Madrid - Avila - Salamanca September 25, 2007 This morning visit the city of Avila, one of the best-preserved medieval walled towns in the world. It is the birthplace of Spanish mysticism as well as Saint Teresa. You will enjoy a walking tour of the city including its Gothic cathedral, one of the oldest in Spain, and the Convent of Saint Teresa. Then travel on to Salamanca where you will enjoy a walking tour including Plaza Mayor, the Romanesque San Martin Church, Salamanca's oldest church, the Pontifical University, Cathedral Nueva, and Cathedral Vieja.
